Layer by layer

Scrambled cube with red side on the top
This section includes the solution of the 3x3 Rubik's cube by beginner's method/layer by layer method. It includes 6 steps:

1. Cross (first layer)
2. Corners (first layer)
3. Edges (middle layer)
4. Cross (last layer)
5. Corners (last layer)
6. Edges (last layer)

NOTE: This method requires at least 60 seconds to solve the cube.

STEP 1: THE CROSS

The cross requires at most 8 moves to solve. But beginners must not focus on solving the cross in 8 moves or less. Once you become comfortable at the cross then you can take a little time on thinking about the possible moves. Beginners must solve the cross on the top not on the bottom layer.

Before getting started with the cross you must decide which cross(color) you would make. I prefer to solve the red cross instead of white.I would be taking an example to explain how the cross is made.

A) In Image 1 on the right you can observe the red-green edge in the bottom layer. The top layer has red centre.
By holding the green face in front rotate the right layer twice (R,R) to move that edge in the top layer as shown in Image 2.
